“I cannot wait to read more in this series, it’s an absolute delight.”
~ Under the Covers
As readers, we’ve all read those book that leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside right? For me, this was one of those books. It was just so damn sweet! We have Lance a grumpy, anti-social Sheriff, who is the alpha of the quickened – aka dog shifters. Then we have Tim, a cute socially awkward gardener who is making a new start in the Lance’s town. THESE TWO! My heart melts just thinking about them.
Although I have read many a shifter book, this is my first shifter book where the animal is a dog. The whole concept was unique as it can work both ways: we have humans who can turn into dogs, but occasionally a dog can “quicken” and turn into a human. It was an interesting idea that fits perfectly with the small town setting and cast of characters like Gus the ever helpful bulldog – who can now turn into a human, Lance’s nosy and well meaning mother, a human who can turn into a collie and Felix, a former military dog who quickened and can turn into a human.
If you’re after a light-hearted paranormal romance, or even something that has a small town cozy vibe to it, then this is the perfect book to pick up. It’s so incredibly heartwarming to see these two goofy and socially awkward characters find each other. I cannot wait to read more in this series; it’s an absolute delight.
