“It’s definitely a sweet story.”

~ Under the Covers

This year I started reading Corinne Michaels and I was excited about the premise of this one in particular because I love second chance romances.  And then one that is about the best friend’s older brother?  Count me in!

HOLD YOU CLOSE is written by an author duo and I am happy to report the writing felt seamless.  I haven’t read Melanie Harlow before so I have nothing to compare this to, but if you’re a fan of Corinne Michaels style then you will definitely like this one.  It’s definitely a sweet story.

Ian broke London’s heart during senior prom after taking her virginity.  All these years later, and having had to interact with each other, she never got over that pain.  And never really moved on either.  Now her best friend and her husband died suddenly in a plane crash and their children are left in the care of her brother.  Ian is now divorced, owns a nightclub and doesn’t have any plans to settle down or live responsibly.  But he’s is forced to reconsider his choices after his nieces/nephew move in with him, and recognize he can’t handle all that alone and needs London’s help.

Let me get one thing out of the way… Ian is the textbook hero that I like to throttle over the head.  The one that thinks he needs to give up on the love of his life because he’s only holding her back from achieving everything she’s meant to.  Argghhhh.  Infuriating.  But at the same time he was adorable and I couldn’t help but enjoy this storyline and seeing them reconnect through years of anger and resentment.  Bonus point for the adorable kids!

If you are looking for something sweet and sexy then give this one a shot.  I’m definitely curious as to what these two authors will write next!
