“There’s quite a lot of banter and joking around, making it very easy to read.”
~ Under the Covers

HANDLE WITH CARE is book three in the Veteran Movers series and this is Evan and Kenzie’s book. As with most of Harte’s Contemporary series, I found this book to be very lighthearted. There’s quite a lot of banter and joking around, making it very easy to read.

I’ve also come to notice a trend with Harte’s heroes, especially the ones with a military background. She really likes to show off their macho and vulnerable sides in equal measures and I do think this is an attractive quality of her characters. On the flip side, her heroines are also quite outspoken and I wondered how Harte will do if she tried writing the shy wallflower type of character too. As much as I like the back and forth, it would be nice to see a change for something different.

In addition to the romance, there’s quite a lot of emphasis on the dialogue and banter. I’ve come to expect this with Harte’s writing style so it doesn’t bother me as often as it had in the past, but for new readers, I can see why it may become an issue. But if you’re into that kind of thing, she definitely doesn’t hold back.

I think if you’re a fan of Jill Shalvis or maybe even Julie James’ books, then you’ll probably enjoy this series from Harte too.
