Review: Fresh Catch by Kate Canterbary

I’ve seen Kate Canterbary’s books around for years and just never picked one up.  However, I do follow the author on social media and I saw a teaser for this male/male romance at probably just the right time when I wanted something in that genre that would be a quick read.  And I admit, since I recently got Kindle Unlimited, that was also a deciding factor in me picking it up.  This totally hit the spot!

Cole is a billionaire sailing around the world alone after his board basically sent him on vacation and away from running his company.  I guess you could equate him to Mark Zuckerberg.  His boat runs into trouble and he finds himself stranded in Talbott’s Cove with only a grumpy fisherman to help him and give him a place to stay while his boat gets repaired.

I especially love recluse heroes and Owen is a great example of one.  He’s not entirely grumpy, he’s just quite content with not dealing with people much.  He’s happy with his life as a lobsterman, living in a very small town and without even having internet access.  He has no clue who Cole is and that gives Cole the opportunity to just be himself without the preconceived notion of who he is getting in the way of their relationship.

This story was surprisingly adorable and a little sexy.  I really liked both characters.  This isn’t a complicated story and that easy feel it has was exactly what I was looking for.  I saw this was also the author’s first m/m and I think she did a great job with it!  It’s perfect for a summery pick me up if you want something cute.  The setting of Talbott’s Cove will have you itching to get on the open water.
