ARC Review: Dirty by Kylie Scott

DIRTY is the first book in a brand new series from Kylie Scott. In this book our heroine, Lydia, learns that her fiancée has been deceiving her. On the day of their wedding, she discovers that he is gay and has been having an affair with his best man. He’s been using her as a beard this entire time and to make matters worse, everyone else but her seems to have known!

In a desperate attempt to get away from all the drama, she runs away, trespassing onto a property to hide in a bathroom. Unfortunately the homeowner happens to walk in and find her there.

Vaughn Hewson is a tattooed, strawberry blonde haired charmer who sweeps her off her feet. There is a bit of instalove in this book. Or maybe I should call it instachemistry because despite the fact that Lydia was devastated about her wedding just moments ago, she is awfully quick to forget about her ex-fiancée when in the presence of Vaughn. But who could blame her? Vaughn in perfection!

To be honest, this book doesn’t have an especially engaging premise. There’s nothing there that is unique or something that we haven’t seen before in Scott’s books or any other books in the genre. However, I found myself enjoying this book any way and I think that’s mainly due to the fact that Scott just writes excellent banter. You can’t help but smile as you read her books. Her humor is never forced and the banter between the hero and heroine is always upbeat and fun. There’s never a dull moment in this book and I think that’s what makes Scott’s books so enjoyable. You’re guaranteed a good time when you read Kylie Scott.
