Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas Book Review
Lisa Kleypas has proved, once again, that she has a magical gift with words. Whenever I start one of her books, I get swept up in the beautiful stories she weaves and transported to another time and place. It’s really a special experience that not many authors can get me to achieve. She does it every single time. And quickly after starting Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas, I knew this would be another one of those stories.
The anticipation for this story was high. The fact that this is Sebastian and Evie’s son, from Lisa Kleypas’ Wallflowers series, we are talking about was more than I could bear. I needed to know about him, just as much as I needed to know what his parents were doing! For my Wallflowers fans, there will be definitely be some cute reminders of our favorite couple from the series. But maybe not quite as much as I was hoping for! As much as I was a bit disappointed by this fact, I didn’t feel like I was really missing it at any point in the story. I was so wrapped up in Gabriel and Pandora that I didn’t see anything else.
You can’t help but love Pandora. I’ve loved her since Cold Hearted Rake and this grew from the very first page in this book. She’s fun and carefree, but also a strong, independent woman. Gabriel certainly has his hands full with her, and he shows throughout his courtship that he knows exactly how to handle her, while giving her everything she needs. Even though they find each other thrust together by circumstance, there is so much more that flourishes quickly thereafter.
Gabriel isn’t the typical rake hero, nor is he damaged or tortured by a dark past. There is something adorable about him that I couldn’t help but be drawn to. From the caring he shows with his siblings and family, to the sweet way he manages to draw Pandora out of her shell. Gabriel has everything you’d want in a great hero.
I can’t think of this series without thinking of an overload of sweetness. Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas was no different. Lisa Kleypas dials the romance up a notch with this sweet and endearing tale. It truly makes it difficult for me to pick a favorite among this series because they are all so good!! I just wish she would write faster, because I always gobble up her books in one sitting then I’m left waiting forever for another taste. If you’re not reading Lisa Kleypas, you are missing the best historical romance has to offer.
Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas delivers everything a historical romance reader could want, sharp banter, palpable chemistry, and an irresistible couple you canโt help but root for. Pandora and Gabrielโs love story is equal parts charming, passionate, and heartfelt, cementing this installment as one of the seriesโ most delightful standouts.
