“If there is one author who can make me love a hero, it is Lisa Kleypas.”
~ Under the Covers
Guess what! I’ve found my first 5-star read of 2020! CHASING CASSANDRA is the sixth book of the Ravenels series and I have to say, it is definitely one of my favorites. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like Tom Severin’s character as the lead, however, if there is one author who can make me love a hero, it is Lisa Kleypas.
I really don’t know what to say other than the fact that I want to marry him. It’s been a very, very long time since I’ve been swept away by a hero, but Tom really surprised me.
I loved how ruthless and calculating he could be. But then there’s also this playful side to him that I found fascinating. Kleypas really did a wonderful job with his character. And the same goes for Cassandra too. I think most people would feel a strong connection to Pandora before this book, but Cassandra’s personality really shone too.
My favorite aspect of this book, though, is the romance. Wow, it was so romantic. At times I was a little cheesy with some of the lines, but it definitely made my heart flutter a few times and for someone like me, who has read so many Romance books that it’s hard to remember, it felt nice to read something that really focused only on the romance. I loved the way their bond developed virtually from nothing to this strong connection. It made me that much more invested in the story.
So, with all that being said, you can definitely expect Tom and Cassandra to appear on my Best of 2020 list at the end of the year. I know we’re a long way off from then, but this book definitely stood out from all the books I’ve recently read.
