I’ve had this book on my radar for a long time.  Really, since it came out.  But I had never read the author and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to give it a shot.  I was looking for soccer romances to read because… World Cup!  and they are surprisingly hard to find, let me tell you.  It seems you can’t ever run out of football and hockey romances but other sports are certainly lacking.  Authors, get on it!  But back to this book.  I couldn’t resist the cover and had to give it a try.  And I’m so glad I did!

Set in London, this book is about Camden Harris who is a star soccer player with a bad injury and his doctor and surgeon Indie Porter.  Indie is extremely smart and has achieved already a lot of recognition for her young age.  Being in charge of the surgery and recovery that could make or break an athlete’s career is no joke and can really jump start the rest of her own career.  But the attraction between them is instant and Camden fits Indie’s list perfectly to be Penis #1 and lose her virginity.

This book was surprisingly a lot of fun.  Not quite over the top humor, but it certainly made me smile.  Indie is quirky enough to make me believe some of her actions throughout this story.  And while Camden is the player (on and off the field) I really liked seeing him come to terms with his feelings and not fight them like you usually see with playboys.  I think he came across as more mature than Indie did, but it also made sense that was the case.  These two were certainly perfect together.  CHALLENGE has a lot of chemistry and it’s a great soccer romcom.

I’ve read this book had some spelling or grammatical errors, but keep in mind I listened to the audiobook so that was not an issue I had to face.  It also has 3 narrators so it was fun to hear the change of narrator for certain characters.  It was well done!  Plus, this first book in the series was part of the Audible Romance package so if you’re looking for something to listen, give it a whirl.  The rest of the series isn’t included on it though.

I’m left really looking forward to the rest of the series.  I’m always all in for a sports family and the Harris brothers are just the right kind of sexy that I want to continue reading about.
