Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne is a great book for curling up with your own cup of tea, so I definitely think it’s a good choice for fall or winter.

Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne
COZY FANTASY
Tomes & Tea #1

Read this if you want:
- Sapphic romance
- Small dragon-plagued town
- Cozy bookshop that serves tea
Reyna is one of the Queen’s private guards and Kianthe is the most powerful mage around. All they really want to do is open a bookshop that serves tea. An assassin takes Reyna hostage, resulting in her decision to flee the self-centered queen. Kianthe joins her and they settle in Tawney, a dragon-plagued town, to open their cozy shop. But then things get much more complicated than they expected.
This story is definitely intended to have the same vibes as Legends and Lattes. In some ways, it really captures those cozy feelings. I love the shop and the descriptions of the different books and teas. Reyna and Kianthe really start to be part of the Tawney community, and the side characters are very interesting.
The biggest struggles, in my opinion, stem from this being the first book in a series. There are a lot of plots that need to come together, so the story isn’t really encapsulated all in this book. While this approach is to be expected with series, it does reduce the cozy vibes a bit. I wish that the books could ultimately be a set of interconnected standalone tales, rather than a plot that continues between books.
Overall, if you enjoy cozy fantasy, I do think this one will meet those needs and allow you to immerse yourself in an interesting world. It’s a great book for curling up with your own cup of tea, so I definitely think it’s a good choice for fall or winter.
