While I am not generally a reader that seeks out novellas or short stories, if there’s an author that can make me interested in reading them in Whitney G. Something about her style of writing and her characters lends itself really well to this format. It always amazes me because caring for new characters in novellas isn’t something easy for me. But I always enjoy hers.
CAN I COME OVER was a bit of a departure from her standard billionaire novellas and I was so happy for that! While yes, it’s short. And yes, I liked the characters and the story enough that I would’ve absolutely loved to see it be a full length novel instead. What we got in this short story set the perfect tone for the relationship that could develop between these two.
It’s an age gap romance between a young woman, an erotic romance author publishing under a pen name who is a bit stuck in her latest project. She finds help in the most unusual of places. A man she’s met in an online dating profile and who started out as quite a rude character. In the end there were more than a few surprises for her when his identity is revealed.
I guess the rating reflects the fact that I felt the story was a bit incomplete, and that’s probably because I would’ve loved to explore this relationship further. But what we got in this book was certainly steamy and entertaining.
