ARC Review: Beard Necessities by Penny Reid

It’s taken me a while to review this book. I think I must still be in shock that this book, nay, this entire series is now finished. It’s been quite a journey, we’ve laughed, we’ve cried and now we have to try and live life without another romance from the Winston brothers. But, as sad as I am that this series has ended, I feel like I have been waiting for Billy Winston’s book for forever and I was so glad that I got to climb in to his head and settle in for the ride.

So, I’m still not feeling all the coherent about this book, it’s just a mad scramble in my head of “oh-i-loved-it-loved-it-lovedit-!”. So I am going to break it down into my top 2 reasons why this book gave me all the feels:

Number 1: Winstons Unite! 

In Beard Necessities, all the Winston brothers and their partner come together for one purpose: to make sure Billy and Claire get their HEA. Leading the charge is of course our favourite genius: Cletus. But the whole family manipulate, connive and out right force Billy and Claire to take another chance on love. It was beautiful, and funny, and just the perfect way to end this series.

Number 2: Billy, Claire, Claire, Billy

These guys! Never have 2 people deserved a HEA more. After reading Beard With Me which shows Billy and Claire (then Scarlet) as teenagers and all the difficult issues they have had to struggle with, I needed to see them happy. And not just happy, but happy with one another. But they have a complex history rife with yearning and half truths, where violent outside forces have forced them apart. You know with some couples you almost feel a physical ache…life won’t quite be right until you know they’re happy? Well, for me, this book evoked that feeling.

Penny Reid has created a truly wonderful series with the Winston Brothers. It’s a modern series where the books are thoughtful and funny, sexy and sweet. I’m going to miss all the characters Reid has introduced us to, but I leave it feeling a little emotional (maybe I shed as few happy tears at the end of this!) but with a real sense of satisfaction. She did good!

Now, bring on the Cletus and Jenn sleuthing series!
