“I felt like their story was perhaps too easy and there wasn’t much going on in terms of plot.”
~ Under the Covers

Melissa Foster returns with the third installment in the Bayside Heat series. Usually I’m a big fan of laidback and easy-going books such as this one and previously, I have enjoyed the other books in the series, but for this one I definitely felt like something was a bit different.

I’m still unsure of what didn’t mesh well with me but I never really found myself getting into the groove with this one. Although Foster’s writing is cleancut and refreshing, the characters were what lacked for me. Both Drake and Serena didn’t light up my world and therefore, I think it was hard for me to get into the story and romance. I felt like their story was perhaps too easy and there wasn’t much going on in terms of plot. As a result, the book just kind of went on without any rises and falls.

I’m hoping that this is just a one-time thing because I do enjoy this series and feel like it’s one of the ones I look forward to reading every time there is a new one.
