Review: Bad Saint: Volume One by Monica James

I’ve been wanting to start reading this since it came out and I saw Sarina Bowen recommending it.  It’s taken me some time to read it but I finally dived in.  This is the story of a woman who had a rough childhood and made something better of herself.  Now it seems her luck has turned, she had a whirlwind romance with a billionaire and they got married quickly.  The time has come for them to enjoy their luxurious and secluded honeymoon, but before that can start she’s kidnapped and kept prisoner on a ship heading to meet her future owner.  Her only hope is to convince her kidnapper, Saint, to not turn her into the monster that now owns her.

Obviously you can tell this is a dark romance.  Don’t go into this book expecting flowery scenarios.  Honestly, I may have even expected this to be a little darker, but I think that has more to do with my recent last dark romance book than anything else.

While this isn’t my favorite dark romance it did have some points that kept me interested and reading.  Of course we have a twist in the end and that may have been one of the things that I didn’t get behind as much.  See, I don’t like seeing a bad guy who is really a good guy but being forced into a bad situation.  At least when it comes to these types of books.  This will most likely be a hard to review series because it’s a trilogy and things can be spoilery.  But lets just say I liked Saint better the first 60% of the book.

BAD SAINT may be a bit of a cliche and very predictable, but I can’t deny it was entertaining.  It’s perfect if you’re looking for something to switch up your mood in what you’re reading.  Just know you’ll be making a commitment for the whole series to get the full story.
