ARC Review: Baby, I’m Howling For You by Christine Warren

Renny Landry is on the run and she knows just where she is going. Somewhere where a lone wolf shifter on the run may have a chance of a brand new life: Alphaville. Alphaville is supposed to be a town where a shifter can find sanctuary no matter what animal they turn into and that’s exactly what Renny needs right now; sanctuary. From the crazy stalker coyote shifter who believes she belongs to him and if he can’t have her, no one can. Mick is escaping from his past in Alphaville, unlike most wolf shifters he didn’t follow his mate when she died, he just can’t figure out why. Until a half dead red wolf shifter is chased to his door, then his instincts know; she’s his.

A brand new series from Christine Warren? I was definitely going to be trying it out. Warren’s brand of PNR normally involves a lot of fun, a lot of laughs and some hunky heroes. However, much to my dismay Baby, I’m Howling For You just didn’t hit the spot for me. I wanted it to, I love the idea of a town full of different shifters, each their for their own secret reasons, which are there to be discovered throughout the series.

I found that this book just didn’t hold my interest. I was bored. The story line was predictable and although this is something that I don’t usually mind, in romance most stories are predictable, I have to at least enjoy the ride even when I know where it is going. Instead I found my mind wandering as I read, until by 50% I realised I was skim reading and not paying much attention. I didn’t need to, I knew what was going to happen.

When a story doesn’t hold much interest me, it’s then the characters that have to carry my interest forward and again this just didn’t happen. I liked Renny well enough but she didn’t have enough charisma to pull me through the book. Mick the alpha wolf shifter, our hot hero…meh. The problem was was that they were just okay, but ultimately forgettable. This book didn’t pull me in, I wasn’t intrigued by any of the characters Warren presented and I feel like in a few weeks time I will barely remember I have read this book at all.

This wasn’t a hit for me and I doubt I will continue with the series, there was just nothing in there either character or story-wise that interested me enough to read further on.
