Sin Number Seven – Lust

Thank you for hosting me today in this, the last stop on my blog tour for my new book from Samhain Publishing.

The blog tour has followed journalist Faith Hillman’s exploration of the Seven Sexy Sins. These are seven articles she’s been asked to write for a well-known women’s magazine, and the aim is to come up with ways to help women experiment in the bedroom. Faith bases the sexy sins on the seven deadly sins and has no trouble creating seven naughty bedroom tasks, but runs into trouble when she has to describe them, because she’s never done any of the sins on her list!

To Faith’s amusement, sexy history teacher and one of her best friends, Rusty Thorne, is more than happy to help out. Faith’s fancied him for years, but she’s worried sleeping with him will make things weird when the seven sins are over. He insists it won’t, but she still makes him sign a contract agreeing their affair will extend only to the exploration of the sins, and that it will definitely end once the sins are done. She hopes this will help them to keep the relationship physical, but of course, it’s going to take more than a piece of paper to stop her falling for the gorgeous Rusty. Luckily, Rusty falls headlong in love with her too, but he’s convinced he’s bad for her and is determined to honour the contract she signed. It’s going to be up to Faith to convince him they’re made for each other, and that love never comes with a guarantee.

Today, I’m talking about Faith’s seventh and final sin: Lust. A pretty good one to finish on! But after six erotic encounters exploring every corner of sex she can think of, from oral sex to stripping to S&M, she wants to end with something gentle and romantic. So she chooses tantric sex. When another friend, Toby, asks her what she means by that, she says “Thinking about sex all night and then not doing it at the end”, to which he replies, “Sounds like your average night to me.” (But don’t worry – Toby’s going to meet his Miss Right, and you can follow his sexual adventures in the next book, due out in 2013).

Here’s a clip from that final sin. Faith’s sitting on Rusty’s lap astride him, and she’s told him to think about the times they’ve been together while he looks into her eyes…

Rusty felt relaxed and calm at last, the most relaxed he’d felt all week. Like he’d come home, that this was where he belonged, sitting there on the couch with Faith on his lap, her body warm in his arms, her beautiful brown eyes locked on his. He knew brown irises were the most common type in the world, but there was nothing common about Faith’s eyes. The colour of polished mahogany, they had a strange pattern of light brown circles he’d never noticed before. They reminded him of tree rings, dissected by reddish-brown lines radiating out from the centre, making him think of sunlit trees, dappled leaves and forests in autumn. They were such a warm colour, which didn’t surprise him, as he was sure the warmth of her personality radiated out through them.

He began thinking about their journey over the past few weeks. Watching porn in the motel, Faith moving on top of him so erotically, the DVD of the two girls in the background. He remembered how worried he’d been, but she’d taken him in hand, literally, recognising he needed to be talked into it, knowing even then what he needed and how to make him feel better.

He thought about the first time they’d gone down on each other, and how he’d watched her in the moonlight, filled with awe at her beauty. Was that the point he’d fallen in love with her? Or had it begun long ago, with the moment she stood in front of him in her bikini, only fifteen years old, but hot as a model, with her taunting, saucy eyes?

The song changed, and he began thinking about the time at the lake, when she’d gone to all that trouble with the food, spending hours tempting him with oysters and figs and Lord knew what else. He knew the exact moment she thought about the Mars Bar, because a flush appeared on her cheeks and she lowered her gaze for a second, and he laughed, loving the way he could make her blush in retrospect. They kept giggling for a while, but he kept his eyes locked on hers, determined that he wasn’t going to be the one to break the spell.

He thought about how she’d stripped for him at the hotel, and how she’d driven him to the edge afterward. It had been the first time he’d realised how hot she was, how much she understood what he wanted in bed. It had been a revelation, his first eureka moment, and the thought now made him wish he were back there, with three sins still to go.

Her eyes glittered with amusement, and he knew she was thinking about the handcuffs. He gave her an exasperated look and she laughed, leaning forward to kiss him on the nose, the first time she’d touched her lips to him since she’d climbed on him. He sighed, and then their gazes met and he knew she was thinking about the beach house, and all the fun they’d had. And how she’d taken him by the hand and led him toward the darkness, and kept him safe when he feared he was going to be overwhelmed.

And now the seventh sin had arrived, and his time with her was nearly over. His own regret was mirrored in her eyes, but she smiled, moving forward a little more so she was just brushing his boxers.

The road to passion is paved with guilty pleasures.

Faith Hillman is in a bit of a pickle. She’s been commissioned to write a series of magazine articles on spicing up your love life. She’s got the theme—the “Seven Sexy Sins”—but there’s one major problem. She hasn’t experienced any of them.

Ever since Faith’s older brother gave Rusty Thorne a black eye for kissing her on her eighteenth birthday, he’s kept his distance, waiting for the right time to make his move. This is it. She needs a research partner? He’s the man for the job.

When sex-on-legs Rusty offers his services, Faith is all over it—with one caveat. The notorious heartbreaker must sign a confidentiality contract. Just to keep him safe from her brother’s wrath, of course…and her heart off Rusty’s long list of conquests.

As they work their wicked way through the list, the implications of the contract hit Rusty as hard as the handcuffs binding his wrists to the bed. It isn’t just Faith’s touch that rocks his world. It’s the way his heart likes it that blows his defenses out of the water. And makes him wonder, when the contract ends, if he can bear to let her go.
