Author Override is the place where authors take the reins and take you on a journey into their world. Some may allow you into their private writing dens. Others may take you along with them on research trips or interviews. Whatever the case may be, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride because here you’ll get an in-depth look into an author’s musings.

Today we have USA Today Bestselling author, Jill Shalvis, author of the Lucky Harbor series and the Animal series. Both fantastic contemporary romance series, Shalvis has the golden touch when it comes to writing memorable characters and fun, sweet romances! Check out her thoughts on her latest release HEAD OVER HEELS, which is one of UTC’s Top Pick recommended reads this year!

Dear Reader,

I’ve received many, many letters regarding the leads in my latest book Head Over Heels. Sawyer and Chloe … what a combo. We start off with a bit of a wild heroine. Add to the mix a reformed bad boy hero who now wears a gun and is on the right side of the law as the town sheriff. Explosive chemistry.

The thing about Sawyer is that he thinks his life is just right. A job. A house. Two best buds. The occasional woman warming his bed… Yeah, he thinks things are good.

But then Chloe blows into Lucky Harbor like a good time girl. A one time girl. Only problem, one time isn’t enough. And Sawyer starts to understand that he might never be able to get enough of her.

Problem. A big one.

It was for me too. I like it when people get along, when there’s no tension and friction but I’m telling you, these two have tension and friction in spades. It was interesting to write. To practice keeping that tension high, I pretended I was a wild child. A good time girl. The research was lots of fun. I’m back to being myself now, and that’s fun too. Because now I get to present you with HEAD OVER HEELS.

Happy Reading!

Ms. Shalvis is giving away a copy of Head Over Heels to one lucky follower.  US only.

Breaking rules and breaking hearts

Free-spirited Chloe lives life on the edge. Unlike her soon-to-be married sisters, she isn’t ready to settle into a quiet life running their family’s newly renovated inn. But soon her love of trouble–and trouble with love-draws the attention of the very stern, very sexy sheriff who’d like nothing better than to tame her wild ways.

Suddenly Chloe can’t take a misstep without the sheriff hot on her heels. His rugged swagger and his enigmatic smile are enough to make a girl beg to be handcuffed. For the first time, instead of avoiding the law, Chloe dreams of surrender. Can this rebel find a way to keep the peace with the straitlaced sheriff? Or will Chloe’s colorful past keep her from a love that lasts . . . and the safe haven she truly wants in a town called Lucky Harbor?

  1. Thanks for the Goodreads invite! Jill is one of my favorite authors and the Lucky Harbor series has been fantastic. After book 2 I had a fit that I had to wait so long for book 3. I have Head Over Heels on my Kindle, so no need to enter me in the contest. Unfortunately I’m on deadline and don’t have time to read it until I’m done with my current manuscript. But I will be reading it within five minutes of hitting send!

  2. Just stopped by to say Jill is one of my top of the top favorites! I love her Lucky Harbor and Animal Magnetism series.

  6. I have been reading Jill’s work for years. It’s nice to see that I can still find new work from her. If I want to go back and read one of her older books, I stop down at my local libraries to get it or ask them to fulfill from another library. This is a great way to enjoy the holidays.

  7. What a hoot! Jill having to go into being a ‘free thinking girl’ and return to normal after writing Chloe’s personality.

I am so glad for this giveaway opportunity. But if I don’t win, I’ll be hunting the book down anyway.

    Thanks for the post!
