“If you’re a fan of angst and family drama then this one might be for you. But seeing as it is nothing new for this particular series, I can also see what this might not be for everyone.” ~ Under the Covers
WHEN YOU’RE BACK starts off exactly where the previous book ended where Mase and Reese are apart and then she returns but it’s to find him with another woman. Thankfully it’s his cousin, Aida. But if you read this book, that’s not something that will ease you.
To make it plain and simple: Aida is a bitch and I think she will become the Nan of the series. I just found her very irritating from the very beginning and none of her actions were necessary as she made snide remarks about Reese to her face.
Again, Abbi Glines keeps it pretty simple with her writing. However she does put in some twists and turns, adding some familiar faces here and there for loyal readers of the series. I find that if you’ve read the whole series so far, this book might read a little bit more better for you. However if you’re new, I don’t think it will be the same experience.
Obviously there’s more to the threat of Aida than Abbi Glines lets on at first but I’m not sure if I am 100% on board with this. It feels like a recycled idea and I wasn’t a big fan of it the first time. Yet I can understand that the series does need some drama and Glines definitely shovels that in by the bucket load in the second half of the book.
If you’re a fan of angst and family drama then this one might be for you. But seeing as it is nothing new for this particular series, I can also see what this might not be for everyone.
