ARC Review: Vexing Voss by Gail Koger

Sometimes a girl needs some cheesy sci-fi alien romance in her life, especially this girl. For me it is all about the sexy alien heroes, they tend to be like vikings in space; all growley and alpha with the me-protect-the-weak-woman mentality and although it isn’t terribly politically correct of me, I lap that stuff up. Unfortunately Vexing Voss didn’t quite hit satisfy my needs cheesy sci-fi needs.

Although Vexing Voss had the requisite space viking and spunky heroine who won’t take his crap it just never came alive for me. I didn’t think Voss and Zoey had much chemistry and I wasn’t ever quite convinced of their affection for one another. Also, his penis freaked me out, normally I am okay with alien cock, be they blue, purple, grey, sometimes even two of them, but his weird snake thingy popping out a slit in his abs I just couldn’t imagine with it skeeving me out.

But this wasn’t just a romance, it did have a fair amount of action and adventure as Zoey manages to achieve the world record for the amount of times someone can be kidnapped/start a fight in one book. This did add some excitement but I would rather that more time was focused on Zoey and Voss creating a more believable relationship.

I did enjoy this book, it definitely had a few entertaining moments; however, I don’t think I will be rushing to read anymore of this series.
