TRUST IN ME is Wait For You but entirely from Cam’s POV. I thought I would enjoy this because I really liked Cam’s character a lot in the first book. However, this book was just a retelling of the first book through Cam’s eyes. There aren’t any real bonus scenes or further insights into Cam’s mind and that’s why I was a teeny bit disappointed in this book. Thank God it’s a novella and not a full length book, otherwise I may have quit and just waited for a new book to come out.
Also, Cam’s personality felt a little bit off to me. I don’t remember him being this….douchey? Okay, I’m going to be completely honest here with you. I felt that Cam was like the real guys you see in school. They can be smooth and charming when with you but when they are with their friends, they can come across as fools or just completely douches. When Cam was with Jase and his other friends, I got that feeling. Armentrout creates a believable character in Cam, but I just didn’t find him particularly likeable in this novella. Some of the things he said made him seem a little too young, too unexperienced and that was a turn off. I much preferred the Cam we experienced through Avery’s eyes.
The writing, as always, is free-flowing and eloquent. It doesn’t take a lifetime to read an Armentrout book and that’s one of the good things about it. I just hope that this trend doesn’t happen for each and every New Adult book because unless it’s written differently or offers up something we haven’t seen before, I don’t see the reason to go out and check this out.
