“Overall, MAI TAI’D UP is a fun loving romance.  It was just missing a bigger spark to draw me in fully.” ~ Under the Covers

Beauty queen and socialite, Chloe leaves an artificial life because she wants to feel alive, to feel love and passion, and be an adult.  She’s never had to work a day in her life.  She’s never had responsibilities.  Until she moves to her father’s Monterrey house and starts a new life.  One that includes rescuing dogs and meeting a sexy vet.

We first met Chloe in SCREWDRIVERED and I was left curious as to her relationship and her upcoming wedding to a man she obviously didn’t love.  But although I went into this book with no expectations, you know me and not reading blurbs when I follow an author, I think there was just something missing.

It seems that it’s just going to be my experience in this series to go through ups and downs.  I enjoyed SCREWDRIVERED a lot!  I think looking back that was because I really liked the heroine.  In MAI TAI’D UP, although I still enjoyed the book, it wasn’t to the same level as the previous book.  There were just things about Chloe that I ultimately didn’t connect to.  And there were some issues in the story that the author resolved a bit too quickly.

I loved the attitude of the hero, Lucas.  He made Chloe feel comfortable all the time, at ease in his presence.  A friendship quickly started and flourished thanks to him.  Can’t say he was perfect, but he was pretty close to that.

Overall, MAI TAI’D UP is a fun loving romance.  It was just missing a bigger spark to draw me in fully.  Although I still say that these books read more like chick lit with a dash of romance.

  1. Thanks for the review, Wallbanger was awesome and the last 2 I thought were ok. I don’t remember Chloe being in Screwdrivered, I need to refresh my memory.
