“Janet and Darach’s story was short and sweet.” ~ Under the Covers
After reading a little about Janet and Darach in The Seduction of Miss Amelia Bell last year, I was very intrigued. Janet and Darach had so much tension between them in that book that I thought their story would be great. Unfortunately, it’s not what I expected.
Janet is to marry a man who she despises due to her duty to her family, but she’d be damned if the wedding actually happens. Of course just in time, Darach comes to help with the situation. Feeling out of choices, he decides the best way out is to marry Janet himself.
Janet and Darach’s story was short and sweet. I love that Janet is strong willed and maybe even fierce. She is always willing to fight for what she believes in. Darach, well, what don’t I like about him. He is the epitome of a bad boy in quilt and a sword. Most definitely fierce and man, I would love to go camping with him. But what I didn’t like so much was the angst between them and quickly replaced with love in a heartbeat. I know they’ve known each other from before and had some connection, but their romance came too quick for me. Given some scenes were a must, due to duty or circumstance, but I would’ve liked to see a little more courtship or at least some time to truly fall for each other. I feel that the story was rushed, and it would’ve been a more satisfying story if perhaps, it was a full-length novel.
