“THE PRINCE is truly just a taste of what’s to come from Sylvain Reynard.” ~ Under the Covers

Kickstarting a brand new series called the Florentine, Sylvain Reynard certainly changed things up so dramatically that I was confused there for a moment. Though Gabriel and Julianne make an appearance, this isn’t an Contemporary Romance anymore. It isn’t until the middle of the novella that I realized that something wasn’t quite fitting the realistic mold anymore.

The narrator we know is called The Prince, but that’s all we really know about him. If you thought Gabriel was an enigma, you’ll definitely find The Prince to be more mysterious than the Professor. True to Reynard’s writing, he draws inspiration from what’s around him and there’s an abundance of references to classical pieces of real life. Beautiful and transcendent, Reynard really plays this up in the writing. More eloquent, more formal, the writing almost has a Historical Romance feel to it and yet there’s this assassin story line that also adds in the suspense. THE PRINCE is truly just a taste of what’s to come from Sylvain Reynard.
