“Heart of a Hero was charming and heartwarming, full of friendship, love and in this case a herd of extremely cheeky cats!” ~ Under the Covers
Nicholas, originally an Atlantian but now working as Director of Security in Nova Mare, can face down Roman legions and angry gods but somehow is having trouble keeping safe one stubborn 21st century woman. Julia Campbell doesn’t need Nicholas, the most eligible bachelor around, to be her hero not only will she risk all the single women in Spellbound Falls pushing her off the nearest mountain but she has had her heart broken and her reputation ruined once she refuses doing it again…no matter how tempting he is.
What I like about Janet Chapman’s books are her characters, they are always so warm and easy to like; Julia was no different, she comes from a troubled background and I loved seeing her bravery and determination to make her own life and her siblings life’s better. As for Nicholas…he had me at six and half feet tall, maybe it is because I am quite tall but having a hero that I could potentially climb like a tree is a big YES for me!
If you are after a fast paced and exciting book this probably isn’t for you, this more like a slow romantic stroll through a meadow rather than a mad dash through rocky terrain. Although there was a small amount of action, this was mostly about Nicholas and Julia’s path to their own happily ever after.
Like all Janet Chapman books Heart of a Hero was charming and heartwarming, full of friendship, love and in this case a herd of extremely cheeky cats! I recommend you give this series a try.

I’ve read all the books in the connected series- Highlander series, Midnight Bay series and this spellbound Falls – really looking forward to this next installment!
I adore Janet’s book and each new release is a “Must Read Immediately”. Her beloved Maine reminds me of my Oregon and she liberally sprinkles in magic and Highlanders ;-). The as an added bonus he has animals woven in and you get a rich romance!
Thanks Suz for the great review!
