“[The Devil’s Brew] is a treat for loyal readers who have enjoyed the journey thus far.” ~ Under the Covers
In this short novella, Miki St. John’s life seems to finally be on track. Damien isn’t dead and his lover, Kane Morgan are finally going steady. As Valentine’s Day approaches, Miki wants to show Kane just how much he cares about him by getting him something special. With the help of friends, I think Miki figures out that the best gifts are the ones given by those you love and it doesn’t have the be material things.
At 70 pages, this novella is more a slice of life kind of thing, giving readers a taste of the series. Though not necessarily the ideal spot to start the series, I do still think that the book can be enjoyed as it gives you a feel of Kane and Miki’s relationship. I feel like this is more of a treat for loyal readers who have enjoyed the journey thus far.
One of my favourite scenes were the ones with Donal, Kane’s father. I’m so glad Ford put it in there because it just added that emotional bit that made this book all the more enjoyable.
If you’re a fan of this series, then you don’t want to miss out on this treat.
