“SURRENDER was packed full of action, sexiness and twists” ~Under the Covers

A couple of things jump to mind when looking back at this book.  First is that I think the blurb could’ve been better.  Without knowing exactly who the heroine is, I was a bit concerned at the very beginning that the heroine might end up being the hero’s half sister.  I kept thinking “well maybe at some point they’ll discover how she’s adopted or something”.  Shouldn’t have worried!  Stephanie Tyler had it covered.

And second, this is a two stories in one kind of book.  We get Dare and Grace who are the “main couple” but we also get Avery and Key/Gunner.  I hate to say I have favorites, but I liked Avery’s parts a lot more.  See, Dare always knew who his father was and he went in the military to sort of follow in his father’s footsteps.  He also just now discovered that he has a half sister that is in grave danger and has to save, all while running away from a guy that wants revenge on Dare’s father and what better way to get to that but by the man’s kids.

Dare and Grace were the odd couple, from different sides of the battle.  She’s the enemy’s step-daughter, who has always hated where she comes from.  And when Dare kidnaps her to try and get leverage, their sparks fly from the very beginning.  Grace is the silent and strong type while Dare is the dark and brooding type.  They both have tortured pasts and I think the author did a great job at having each of them help the other.  They were a good blend, although a bit subdued.

Which is probably why I liked Avery.  She’s all spunk and guts.  She’s never known her father, she just killed two hired guns that had just killed her mother, and now she’s on the run from the police and the bad guys.  Which is how her whole world collapses, she meets her half brother Dare, and then she meets some sexy bad boys.  By the end, there is a strong suspicion that the feelings between Avery and one of the contenders are stronger and more real.  I am anxiously waiting for that book because I think it’ll be explosive.

SURRENDER was packed full of action, sexiness and twists.  It kept me interested and anxious to know what was coming next.
