” The Master of the Shadowlands series still remains as one of the most well-written and sexy BDSM series out there. ” ~ Under the Covers
SHOW ME, BABY is the ninth book in the Masters of the Shadowlands series but is the first novella. This is Jake and Rainie’s story. When Rainie witnesses a dog being hit by a car and left to die, she reacts in the only way she knows how. She takes the dog to see Jake, a Dom she knows from the BDSM club she is a part of. Though Jake is well acquired with dogs, he can’t say that he has had the pleasure of getting to know Rainie all that well, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to try.
When they see each other at their BDSM club once again, Jake learns that Rainie has a problem of turning down Doms that she doesn’t want to play with. It’s not that she’s being rude or unfriendly, it’s just that she doesn’t know how to go about it. So Jake tries to teach her a lesson, giving her the backbone she needs while also remaining polite and courteous. It annoys Rainie somewhat, but what fun would the story be if the Dom didn’t piss the trainee off once in awhile?
As with the case with many of the Masters of the Shadowlands books, Sinclair finds interesting ways to bring the group together. This time there’s a bachelorette party that gets out of hand before the Doms can intercede, but readers will get a glimpse of all their favorite characters in good spirits. Similarly, you can also expect unique and interesting sex scenes that always set Cherise Sinclair books apart from her peers. This time there’s some pirate role-playing (who knew that this would be so fun?) and some delicious dirty talk from Master Jake.
Sinclair has certainly created a wonderful group of characters with this series. I genuinely look forward to each book and wished that Jacob and Rainie’s story was longer because of it. There is so much good times to be had and I love how unapologetic Sinclair writes; it’s sexy while not being too over the top, a balance that if often hard to strike. Even with a tighter word count, I found that Sinclair was able to include all the things I love about this series in a novella. The Master of the Shadowlands series still remains as one of the most well-written and sexy BDSM series out there.
