SEAL of Honor is a not-to-miss debut novel by Tonya Burrows. This up and coming author delivered an exciting story of ex seals that are die hard for life threatening adventures. I have a feeling this author will make her mark in the romantic suspense genre.

Ms. Burrows delivered a realistic alpha male of our time. And when I say, โ€œof our timeโ€, I mean men of this world that are protective, passionate, strong, sexy and skilled but also very human that pain, disability and death are all possibilities.

Gabe is an ex-SEAL who was injured and can no longer do his job. He has found a way to do what he enjoys, in a form of covert operations group called HORNET(Hostage Rescue and Negotiation Team). Their first mission is to rescue Audreyโ€™s brother from Columbian kidnappers, which brought this book a whole lot of action and suspense for the team. Gabe, the sexy and very hot Gabe (who I pictured to look like the cover of this book) is the alpha of our time that I mentioned earlier. I love that despite his disability, he is still a very capable man. In this case, he was able to protect and not just by kicking ass and killing everyone, but by the sacrifice of getting his ass kicked by their abductors. It was not pretty. Let me tell you, this book had me at the edge of my seat as if I was watching a movie.

I was scared for Gabe and Audrey; the realistic scenes Ms. Burrows wrote are actual scenes that prevent me from visiting other countries. It is some scary shit. I am impressed Audrey had handled herself well, and she had the guts to go to Columbia to look for her brother to begin with. She is definitely no pansy heroine in distress who needs saving. She is without a doubt a ballsy heroine. Gabe and Audrey is a perfect match and boy did they get pretty damn hot together.

I am very excited about this series. Right off the bat, the HORNET members showed a lot of power, camaraderie, skills in the field and these men were so funny. When I think of them, I hear the music from Bad Boys the movie with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Well, because they are total bad boys. Ms. Burrows did a great job giving each member personalities that are very intriguing leaving readers wanting more.

The rest of the team are Jean-Luc, Jesse, Marcus, Harvard, Ian and Quinn. I am most interested in Jean-Luc who I think is a very passionate man and skilledย with multiples partners from what this books tell us…team partners is what I mean.ย  Making him a very good HORNET team of course.ย  The set up for these men are there, but I think the next book might be about Quinn who is having issues staying with team.ย  Sounds like big drama to me, I cannot wait to get more of this series.
