ARC Review: Rogue Rider by Larissa Ione

We’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time.  Pestilence has destroyed lives, killed innocents and done a lot of harm.  Inflicted a lot of suffering.  It’s gotten to the point that I wasn’t sure if there was a way to bring him back from that brink.  I thought maybe he was too far gone for me to learn to love him.

But I shouldn’t doubt Larissa Ione, she’s done it again!   Really, you can’t beat having a naked Reseph, in the snow within the first two pages.  Pestilence might’ve been the root of all evil but Reseph has a heart of gold. 😉 I couldn’t help but fall in love with him within the very first pages of this book.  Other than being sexy, he was so much fun to read.  He made me laugh and swoon, yes almost at the same time.

Reaver gives him a second chance by sending Reseph back into the world with Pestilence locked away inside of him.  But he takes away his memories.  He doesn’t remember who he is and he lands in the middle of a snow storm near Jillian’s land.  The setting of the cabin in the middle of nowhere, small town living and small town gossip was perfect for this book.  It gave us the opportunity to focus primarily on rebuilding some love for Reseph first because we got to the heavy stuff.  And also to create a bond between him and Jillian.  Although, I thought their connection was pretty instant.  They were perfect together!

Jillian is a tough chick, she can deal with a lot, she’s gone through a traumatic attack after all hell broke loose around the world, literally.  She has the marks and the bad memories to prove that.  She’s a survivor and at times in this book I thought it would be great to be in her shoes, but there were others when I didn’t.

And although this book has a great love story, the world building didn’t stop.  As you may know, after this book we are going back to the Demonica series and Reaver’s book will kick that off.  So you can bet I was glued to any little bit we got from him.  And all I can say is I’m so excited to get to his book, now that truths are finally being revealed.

Just because Pestilence isn’t around, doesn’t mean there are no bad guys.  There is a shift in the finger pointing that I think brings everything back full circle and in perfect harmony for our reentry to the Demonica series.

I always find this world to be very rich and well developed.  The author has a wonderful idea for how she sees things in her mind and is able to project that with clear detail, so much that I feel as if I’m there sometimes.

If I had one complaint about this book was the pace felt like a bit of a rollercoaster for me.  I found that it would get going really good and then loose some steam, and then back up again.  But this did not stop me from enjoying every minute of this book!

ROGUE RIDER does Reseph justice.  It’s heart warming, gut wrenching and uber sexy.  The last book in the Lords of Deliverance is definitely one you won’t want to miss.
