ARC Review: Risky Business by Melissa Cutler

I am so very excited about Ms. Cutler’s new contemporary series.  Risky Business is a small town romance with dash of sports and military theme.  Cutler scored a goal on this story line and possibly turned me into a puck bunny.  The men of Bomb Squad are hot…on and off the ice!

Allison had just come out of a nasty divorce when she decided to move away.  She had nothing left but a boat rental business in a small town of Destiny Falls, New York.  With little experience and a phobia of water, she still plans to make this business thrive.  Unfortunately, the existing manager is not very welcoming and thinks he is the deserving owner.

Theo has managed Cloud Nine for years.  Not only that it is his livelihood, it is also very close to his heart.  Unfortunately, shit had hit the fan before he was able to take ownership. Now that the official owner has shown up, he doesn’t plan to give up so easily.

I really enjoyed this book.  Cutler did not only make her protagonistss strong, good looking and sexy, she made them equally weak with human disabilities.  They are not perfect in the least; in fact, they had financial, social and physical and emotional/psychological issues.  But despite the downside, she had given them a will to survive and proved that sometimes having friends that will support you can help you stay afloat.  Totally corny, right? But it’s not.  Risky business is also infused with small town gossip, humor amongst friends, and even annoying family members.  It’s also so very romantic. Did I mention the ex-military, hot, sexy hockey players?

Theo and his friends, also ex-military, play for a hockey team call Bomb Squad.  Supporting injured veterans, they plan to play their hearts out meanwhile making some noise about their cause.  These men were one time injured during duty one way or another yet strong to the core; true survivors and hot enough to melt an ice rink. I promise you won’t be disappointed. I cannot wait to read all of their stories.

There is a short excerpt of Undefeated at the end of this book.  It will be Liam’s book.  He is one of Theo’s friends, a member of the Bomb Squad and Olivia’s brother.  I want to warn you that if you read this excerpt, it will leave you high and dry.  It actually took me by surprise.  What I got from Liam is that he is sweet, caring and funny but very standoff-ish.  Certainly, as if there’s something from his past that defines his quiet side.  Well….this excerpt will shock you.  He is definitely not what he seems.   I’m predicting that his book will tell his hardships.  There may be some angst and possibly roughness….. and definitely tears.  I hope Ms. Cutler is prepared for her fans’ demand for immediate release of Liam’s story.
