READ BETWEEN THE LINES by Rachel Lacey is a Sapphic enemies to lovers romance with You’ve Got Mail vibes. MCs are a bookstore owner, Rosie and the developer kicking her out of her retail space, Jane. But wait, she’s secretly also the lesbian romance author that Rosie has been raving about for a long time!

This was a cute romance. It was definitely less angsty than I thought it would be based on the situations that could pull them apart. I admit I was waiting for all these threads to unravel into some big blow up moments and in some way I was disappointed it didn’t go that route. But if you prefer your romances less angsty, or if you’re in the right mood for that, then this will satisfy that need.

I was definitely more partial to Rosie’s personality and it was a lot of fun to see Jane open up and try new things. Stand up for herself. And allow herself to be proud about what she likes and what she’s accomplished. Jane’s character definitely had the most growth of the two. As for the romance, like I said. Cute and in some ways perfectly easy going. I have read this author’s f/f romances before and this is my favorite I’ve read so far.

Great supporting characters and group of friends as well. And who doesn’t love books about bookstores and authors? These two aspects of the story rounded this story so well. The setting is integral to the book and I loved all the bookish and bookworm vibes. From the bookstore to book signings, and to see Rosie fangirling over her favorite author and then meeting her. It felt so natural to see that side of our bookworm experience represented.

I will also mention that this series has amazing covers and I haven’t even looked at what characters book 2 is about but I already know that I can’t wait to read it and add it to my shelf!
