Kylie Scott played this song perfectly, hitting all the hilarious high notes while delivering a full range of emotions with her words. PLAY definitely sets the bar high for the next books in the series. ~ Under the Covers

Mal Ericsonโ€ฆWelcome to my book boyfriend harem. The drummer of Stage Dive has it all โ€“ the charm, the sex appeal and the sense of humor that will have you melting away like a popsicle in the hot summer sun.

In the second book of the Stage Dive series, Kylie Scott treats readers with Malโ€™s story. After reading the first book, I was very excited about Mal. He was the most interesting to read about and light up the pages of the book whenever he had an appearance. In this book, though, Mal simply doesnโ€™t shine โ€“ he explodes off the pages and jumps right into readerโ€™s heart.

What I loved about this book is that Scott kept Malโ€™s character the same. The Mal you read about in the first book is still as charming and crazy as ever; we just see it more in a direct light as this is his book. I loved that Scott didnโ€™t suddenly change his personality to make him more tortured. Mal is what he is and I think heโ€™s absolutely perfect!

The very lucky girl who manages to snag him is Anne Rollins. Many times throughout reading this book I imagined that there was an I in her name because I wanted to her Anne so much. After her friend ditches her and leaves her with an empty apartment and no money to pay for rent, Anne is put in a difficult spot. Not only that, but she remains in the stagnant friend zone with one of her close friends that she has a major crush on.

But all that changes when she meets Mal Ericson. He charms her and man, is it fun to watch! Mal in action is kind of like watching your favourite TV show. Youโ€™re riveted by his realness. There is no one quite like him.

I found the way he took care of Anne to be very endearing. Their romance escalates very well, turning from something fun and out of the blue into something quite real and unexpected.

As much as I love Mal in this book. I also have to mention Anne. The book is from her perspective and just as Mal oozes personality, Anne does as well. Her narration had me laughing out loud in several places.

Kylie Scott played this song perfectly, hitting all the hilarious high notes while delivering a full range of emotions with her words. PLAY definitely sets the bar high for the next books in the series.

  1. I’m soooo looking forward to reading this one! I fell in love with Mal while reading Lick. I knew then that this was a series I would want in paperback and (unfortunately) that doesn’t release until August. UGH!!! I’m so happy that I also seem to like Anne quite a bit. So often in a series my favorite character ends up with my least favorite partner. Kylie’s done a phenominal job with these men that we love!
