Bishop has a fascinating world-class winner on her hands, raising the bar of expectations high. MURDER OF CROWS transcends simple Urban Fantasy and gears towards epic fantasy. ย ~ Under the Covers
Thrown back into the alluring world that Anne Bishop has created, readers are bombarded with stellar characterization and highly detailed worldbuilding. If you loved WRITTEN IN BLOOD, you will adore MURDER OF CROWS.
Much like its predessor, Bishop keeps it dark and keeps it heavy on the worldbuilding. However, Romance readers will have something to cheer about because although not too much development has been made in that department, there is some great progress that gets readers like me very, very excited. I found Simon and Meg to be adorable in their โfriendshipโ. Valuing each other because of their shared companionship, neither one is really sure of their feelings. However, Bishop does such a fantastic job of exploring those unsure feelings. I cannot wait to see where it leads!
In terms of the politics of the world and the conflicts that arise, deaths have been occurring within the Crows due to two addicint drugs that have turned up, which force the Others to make decisions. With the Controller still out there, using the blood prophets for this evil endeavours, there is an increasing urgency to capture him and stop him from hurting people like Jean, Megโs friend who helped her escape.
Upon starting this book, I found it impossible to stop. There is just something so gripping about Bishopโs writing. I felt like I had fallen into another world, watching on with vividly intensity as the events occur. Because Bishop likes to tell her stories through various POVs, I found it fascinating to be inside all their heads, especially the Controllerโs. I definitely think it adds another layer to the storyline.
Bishop has a fascinating world-class winner on her hands, raising the bar of expectations high. MURDER OF CROWS transcends simple Urban Fantasy and gears towards epic fantasy.

Thanks for the great review Annie.
I have to agree…her world building is simply amazing not to mention her writing!
Wasn’t it just amazing? I love how dark it is, but the romance is still blooming ๐
Though I’ve yet to start this series I loved the Black Jewels Trilogy.
You should try this one. I haven’t read her Black Jewels yet, but I know I will eventually!
I’m looking forward to reading this series. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for stopping by, Lori!
I’ve heard so many good things about this series, I guess I’ll have to get it off my wishlist and on to my TBR pile.
