There is no question that Rhys Ford goes full throttle with the first in a brand new series called MURDER AND MAYHEM. I think the title aptly describes the entire book. When former cat burglar Rook Stevens gets caught hovering over a dead woman’s body, he must now try to shake off the murder charge as well as deal with the fact that Detective Dante Montoya is back in his life. Oh lovely.

Though they start off as strained, I found that I ended up enjoying Rook and Dante together. They kind of remind me a little bit of Ty and Zane in the beginning and when you also factor in all the action and suspense Ford throws in, this little book ends up packing a huge punch.

I will say that despite the intense action and several twists and turns in this novel that the beginning is a little bit slower. I think this is due to the fact that Ford loves her details and can go a little overboard with them sometimes. When the story hasn’t been set up yet, I think it’s important to do that first and then work on the smaller details, such as police procedure later to really spice up the book.

I’m very excited about this series and am looking forward to what Rhys Ford has in store for her readers next!

  1. I haven’t read anything by Rhys Ford yet, this book and reviews I’ve read on her other books sound good.
