“There are a lot of funny one liners and moments that made me smile.” ~ Under the Covers

I’ve been anticipating Evan’s book for a while.  He’s the Alpha of Takhini and has been looking and waiting to find his mate.  Especially after his human “girlfriend” just found her own mate and he was left single for the first time in a long time.   She just happens to have been sort of under his nose for a while, and has an agenda against him.

This is a sort of enemies to lovers story.  Amy comes to avenge the death of her brother, which she blames on Evan.  She comes as the Alpha of her own pack, Canyon.  A pack of misfits and wolves that don’t fit in with the Takhini lifestyle.  She’s a bit of a badass in a way, but I think a bit too “I’m woman, hear me roar” for my taste.  I love a strong heroine more than anything, but I guess she crossed into the bitchy territory for me.

As much as Amy is a strong heroine and a tough Alpha chick, Evan becomes much too beta for me.  He wants his mate, he knows there’s a huge misunderstanding and there’s reasons why she should hate him.  Until she knows the truth.  But the way he backs up and backs down sometimes made me fall a bit less in love with him.  I usually love his fun personality but when it comes to his mate, I want the Alpha to show.  And I didn’t feel I got that until the end of this story.

That aside, this book provided quite a bit of comedic relief because these two are hysterical.  And Shaun as well.  There are a lot of funny one liners and moments that made me smile.  For 80% this book was a very light read and then towards the end we got some action to rev things up.  I just can’t say that Evan and Amy will go down as one of my favorite couples.  But bring on the next one!

  1. Hmmmm don’t like it when characters change too much…it can ruin the character we fell in love with…thanks francesca

  2. Thanks for the review. I guess I’ll have to read it to decide if he changes too much for my liking…. Not sure I like a alpha who easily becomes beta…
