“Ms. Rohman wrote a very compelling story. From the very beginning, she grabbed my attention…suspense and mystery to the story kept me at the edge of my seat” ~ Under the Covers
I am going to admit because of my overwhelming list of books to review, I almost passed up on this book. Almost. I am so glad I didn’t, or I would have missed out on a great read. Ms. Rohman wrote a very compelling story. From the very beginning, she grabbed my attention by evoking feelings of sympathy towards the heroine and the addition of suspense and mystery to the story kept me at the edge of my seat.
Jada McLean is a self-made business owner. She is very independent and has her life all figured out; until she finds out her engagement was a sham. And to make matters worse, she will have legal troubles and she will gain a stalker that will put her life in danger.
Jonathan Kole, also successful is now the D. A. for San Francisco. He has everything he ever wanted including this dream job he just landed. But after meeting Jada, he will have to make major decisions that will turn his well-planned life upside down.
Love, Lies and the DA had me holding my breath at the twists and turns of the story line. From the beginning to end, Jada’s situations kept me a constant shock. Bad things kept happening to her, and as screwed up as it is, Jada actually handled the heartaches and misfortunes quite well. I give it to her; she stayed strong during the ordeals. And honestly, I’m glad she got rid of the fiancee and in return to meet a very handsome, very rich and powerful man, Jonathan.
Jonathan as the D. A. and his family relations and business was put in a very compromising position. But his “white in shining armor” personality will of course make the right decisions. I was head over heels for this guy. He put up a few sigh-inducing choices that made me fall for him. He is quite a romantic!!!
But what I love most is the nerve racking suspense and mystery that had me at the edge of my seat. Someone was always stalking and lingering. Though I suspected a few of the characters, I didn’t get it right. Several scenes also had my stomach in knots and I found my jaw constantly dropping to the floor.
If you like romance with strong elements of mystery and suspense, I recommend this book. I was very impressed with this new to me author, and I cannot wait to read more of her work.
