Josh Lanyon just writes some very fun, relatable personalities who just seem to find themselves into messes. What’s not to love? ~ Under the Covers

KICK START, the fifth book in the Dangerous Ground series blasts off with a fun and also very suspenseful scene. Here we have the two James Bonds of the story in action, hanging off cars and generally being badass. Immediately, I found myself liking these characters. Josh Lanyon just writes some very fun, relatable personalities who just seem to find themselves into messes. What’s not to love?

Taylor and Will are partners who are now branching off and trying to start their own security business. Without money, their plans are at a standstill so until they get call in some favors and get a loan, that is put on hold for the time being. However, time does not stand still for these two. In fact, suspicious activity begins to follow them in the form of a tail. As they travel around, someone is following them and Will and Taylor had absolutely no clue who this person is or why they are being followed.

Deeper conflicts occur when Will brings Taylor home to keep his folks. It’s a pleasant experience until Grant, Will’s brother finds out that he and Taylor are partners in all ways. Lanyon explores the highs and lows of any relationship and I loved seeing their interactions with one another. I especially loved seeing the support that Will and Taylor had for each other as they tried to ride out the turbulence together. These scenes actually reminded me of Abigail Roux’s Cut and Run series, especially Sticks & Stones. So if you’re a fan of Abi’s, I would definitely suggest reading this series.

Lanyon is one of my top favourite M/M authors (I only have 3 top faves) so I wasn’t surprised to find myself enjoying this novella. I do wish that the stories were longer and that there were more sexy times (who doesn’t!?) but for its length, I do believe that Lanyon explored all that he could with the shorter word count.

I’m very much looking forward to more in the series!

  1. I haven’t read Josh Lanyon yet but I did request my library purchase (and yes they did) his Adrien English series. I will need to check out the Dangerous Ground series I love funny and being compared to Abbi Roux is a must check out.
