ARC Review: For the Longest Time by Kendra Leigh Castle

I follow Kendra Leigh Castle for her PNR novels, the Dark Dynasties and Hearts of the Fallen series…..I love them! So, when I heard about this Contemporary book, I was excited to jump at the chance to read it. I am happy to say that she did not disappoint. Not only can she write good paranormal novels but she can write awesome contemporary reads.

I devoured this book. It’s sweet, funny and it’s an outcast-girl-gets-the-guy story…and THAT just rocked my world. Samantha Henry comes back to her hometown of Harvest Cove after ten years of being away. The plan is to regroup and get out as fast as she can.

But first, she will have to face the man who was responsible for her broken heart. Jake Smith is a popular hot jock in high school that everyone wanted to be with. Though he is a nice guy, his friends were not quite the same. Unfortunately, because he was nice, he was easily manipulated by them. He is now the town’s veterinarian and a well respected man in the community. He is still very attractive, still single and still interested in Sam but still very good friends with his old crowd. The question is how will he handle things when Sam reveals her feelings about their past.

I enjoyed Sam and Jake’s story. It’s was uplifting and sweet. Okay, it was more a-big-payback-served-extra-cold-to-the-bullies type of story. It had a Revenge of the Nerds theme to it…Sam, rising up despite the mistreatment she received and Jake making amends with his mistakes. It had a feel good ending. It was also very romantic. Jake’s attempts of winning Sam over were cute and charming. And his love for animals was totally swoon worthy.
