“Best book in the Crossfire series yet!” ~Under the Covers

Where should I start with this one?  Was it hot?  Absolutely!  Was I surprised about the turns of this story?  At one point, yes.   How does it compare to the previous two?  Best book in the Crossfire series yet!

This story sort of picks up where REFLECTED IN YOU left off.  Gideon killed a man for Eva.  He removed the threat against her life in that efficient way of his.  Cool and mechanical.  But at the same time full of passion.  Eva, though, seems to be ok with most of that and has no problem getting back together with Gideon.  Even though this time their relationship can’t be public to avoid suspicion to fall back on him.

Their sexual chemistry does not miss a beat.  If anything, their need for each other has grown into something deep and intense (yes, even more so) because of the fact that they are both now comfortable with each other enough to express themselves.

Eva, for one, had a change from the previous book.  Where in REFLECTED she was more the quiet mouse who needed Gideon’s approval for everything (almost), in this one she took charge.  She pushed Gideon’s buttons, she didn’t question herself as much.  She asked, or demanded more like it, for what she wanted.  She wasn’t afraid to confront Gideon or to experience her life however she wanted.

Gideon, on the other hand, was a total romantic.  Still a bit of a control freak and dominant as well, but also willing to give an inch.  It was a nice change on both of them and it was perfect to see them complimenting each other much better in this book.  The one thing that stood out the most to be was the playfulness of their relationship.  Their easy joking around while just being together.

As usual, there’s plenty of turmoil in their world and lots of things (and drama) happening from all sides.  Friends, family, fame and enemies.  All these threads collided perfectly in this book to give the story a lot of depth.  It wasn’t a one dimensional storyline where there’s one main conflict the couple has to get through.  This book had so much more which made it real.

Even though this could’ve been written as the end of Gideon and Eva’s story, there is obviously still more to come and loose ends to tie.  It’ll be interesting to see them facing things at this new stage of their relationship.

  1. I’m so glad to hear Eva has changed from book 2. I was disappointed with her in there and questioning whether I should continue. I don’t want a rehash of a story told multiple times-dominant controlling billionaire and the over stimulated mouse he falls in love with. 🙁

    1. I had that same problem in the previous book. I think she shows growth in this one and acts a bit more like a normal woman her age, starting to feel comfortable with herself. The fact that she wants Gideon with almost an obsessive need is one thing, but seeing her not question when she wants to go out with friends etc was refreshing and wonderful to see.

  2. I really loved the stage Gideon and Eva were in this book. They seemed more like a couple in Entwined than in the previous two books. And I agree, Gideon was so damn romantic here. The sweet stuff he was spewing had my panties melting as much as his moves in the bedroom. Great review Fran!

  3. I used your link to Amazon and was surprised to see that the Kindle version is more expensive than paperback: $9.99 vs $8.30. Since I prefer reading ebooks, this has me wondering if it’s worth it.

  4. This third installation is a waste of time.

Apart from a few significant morsels thrown in for the fans of the series and perhaps to justify publishing this book, Sylvia Day does not take the reader, the story nor the characters here nor there. This book is nothing more but a concession to publishing economics – prolong the series and milk it for every cent its worth. And thats precisely what the reader gets, a barely there almost non-existent story stretched too thin in order to justify another two books in the series (of what was supposedly a three book series turned into a more lucrative five book series).

It is sad when a talented writer such as Day puts out work that is such a bad filler that it does not even deserve the word mediocre.

Very unsatisfying book. Stay away and probably wait for the fourth or fifth one.

  5. I have to agree w/ Summer. It became glaringly obvious pretty quick that this was more of a money grab than an attempt to write a thoughtful story. A definite rush to get another book out there. There was no real plot. The sex was overdone and became redundant. Compared to the first two books in the series, Entwined was boring and unfulfilling. Day should care more about the quality of her work and the dedication of her readers and less about rushing to get one more book on the shelf. The ending was a huge disappointment. Even shocking given the $ readers are paying for the eBook.

  6. This book is an absolute waste if time & money.

I am so angry I paid to read this, I loved the first two books & the story flowed through them.

Where is the story in this novel??? There isn’t one even the sex scenes have become stale & boring. This book was far to rushed & no thought has been out into it.

The ending is absolutely ridiculous, this is a bad day for Sylvia Day as reading comments on other websites people will not be buying the next two crossfire books.

Please do not your waste your money on this novel !!!!
