I stumbled upon this book and was intrigued by the very sexy cover. So immediately I read the blurb and found that it had all that I love in a paranormal romance – a hot band of warriors, a homicide detective heroine and lots of weapons and action!
As I started reading, I knew right off the bat that I would enjoy this book. Hilaire’s voice is inviting and unique. Even though I hadn’t read the first book of the series and Hilaire is a new-to-me author, I found that I slipped right into the Paladin Warriors world like a second skin. DELIVER ME FROM TEMPTATION was an easy transition into the world that Hiltaire has created.
And I think that really has to do with her ability to create such intriguing and relatable characters. Logan Calhoun may be the biggest and the baddest, yet he doesn’t allow that to make him into an untouchable, arrogant jerk. Reading from his perspective was very entertaining and fun. Hilaire has the unique ability to make her characters stand out and really grab a reader’s attention with her writing. I fell so easily into her world. It’s so inviting and fun and I was helpless but to join.
The one thing I noticed at the beginning of the book was that sometimes the pacing was off. I felt like some of the scenes didn’t really help progress the story forward, but it didn’t seem to idle for too long. Hilaire infuses the book with quite a few good action scenes so that definitely impressed me.
I am eager to have found a new author to explore. With her fun, larger-than-life characters and interesting world-building, you can be sure that I will be back for some more!
