If there is a Lauren Dane book I won’t like, then I haven’t found it. Her heroines are always strong and independent and they fit perfectly with the Cosmo Red Hot Reads series.
In CAKE we meet Wren. She’s an artist and a bike messenger. During her day job she’s met, if you can call their encounters while she delivers packages to him met, Gregori. He’s the epitome of the bohemian bad boy. A very successful artist himself, with tats, piercings and a mohawk. With a reputation for being a ladies’ man and just an all around intense individual. The vibes come off of him to enrapture anyone in his net. And Wren isn’t immune.
Gregori has been a bit jaded by his past. His ex-wife, the floozies that want him only because of who he is. He’s become what they expect him to be. But Wren will draw the real him out. Because she’s only interested in him.
A bad boy hero that’s to die for and melt at his feet? A strong heroine that knows exactly what she wants? CAKE was just the right combination of engaging storyline and chemistry to keep me turning the pages and definitely one of my favorite short stories of the year!
In true Lauren Dane fashion, CAKE is sensual, engaging and emotional. If you are looking for a quick read that will make you fall in love with the characters from the beginning, then definitely give this a try! You won’t regret it.
