BANISHING THE DARK is a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the Arcadia Bell series. ~ Under the Covers
In the fourth instalment of the Arcadia Bell series, readers are thrust back into the magical world that Jenn Bennett has created. Starting off right where the last book ended, things are a little slow to start as Cady tries to get back onto her feet. Lon is absolutely freaking amazing in this one. I just love how sweet he is and enjoyed the internal battle he waged as he tried to do what he thought was right.
Though this series is primarily Urban Fantasy, there are touches of romances for fans who enjoy some lovey-dovey stuff in between their action. While not that saturated in romance as some other series such as Night Huntress and Kate Daniels, it does allow for some development in the relationship department. I’m sure everyone will be thrilled about the advances that are made in this book if you are a long-time lover of this series.
Bennett adds in several pages from Jupe’s POV and I found that I actually really enjoyed this choice. Jupe is such a fun character to read. As a younger character, I felt that Bennett really captured a young mind well without really downplaying any of his intelligence or watering down her words. While you can tell the difference between Cady’s POV and Jupe’s right away, I liked that the differences in ages as displayed but it wasn’t too drastic a jump either.
Jupe adds a great familial element to the series. As you know, Cady and Lon are facing their greatest enemy, Cady’s murderous mother so it’s nice to see the loving side come out a little more. I feel like it balances out the story a little bit better.
As the concluding book in the series, I still get the sense that it’s not completely over for Bennett. I’m wondering if her author mind had something else planned up her sleeve in terms of a spin off, but as of right now, I’m pretty confident that readers will love where this series ends. BANISHING THE DARK is a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the Arcadia Bell series.

I am so happy it didn’t disappoint. I love this series and have been eager and sad for the final book.
Cady and Lon are one of my favorite couples, the fact that their was no angst or triangles was perfect. I really hop Jenn does a spin-off series with Jupe.
I am so sad it’s over, but it was an awesome series! XD
