ARC Review and Excerpt: Searching For Someday by Jennifer Probst

Searching for Someday is a new spin off from the Marriage with a Billionaire series by Jennifer Probst. Just like its predecessor, this novel is a delightfully romantic and fun read. Ms. Probst wrote a love story between a hopeless romantic and a skeptic finding their Someday when they least expected.

Slade Montgomery had taken on the task to take care of his little sister but now, she is ready for independence and hopes to find love with the help of a matchmaking company. In fear of losing his control over her, Slade signs up at the matchmaking company called Kinnection. He plans to sabotage the company and protect his sister from any heartache. But we all know meddling in situations such as these usually comes back to bite you in the ass, right? Kate Seymour has taken the challenge to prove that Kinnection is not a sham by promising to find Slade his match despite his skepticism. Her natural ability in matchmaking makes her confident she will get the job done. But what she didn’t know is that she does not need to look far as Slade’s match can be found right under her nose…literally.

Ms. Probst is one of the best Contemporary authors I know, and I wasn’t surprised that I loved every bit of this novel. But then again, it isn’t hard to fall for Slade and Kate’s story. Their characters are full of realistic and loveable traits. They are insecure when it comes to love and relationships but of course in hopes to find it someday, just like everybody else before finding THE one. Slade and Kate are fun, flirtatious, and their sexual tension was palpable. There was a bit of angst between them, but from the beginning you can feel their connection right through the pages. I love that they fought their connection with their arms and legs swinging, but the result was just unavoidable. Bottom line is that they fit.

We were able to get a glimpse of the characters from Marriage to a Billionaire as well, and that’s always fun. The Book of Spells also made its appearance though I’m not sure how much role it played in this story. I can’t decide if its magic or Kate’s power was the one responsible for their HEA. I’m sure it would be a good discussion once readers have read this book. And last, are you ready for this? We got a good amount of Wolfe in this book. For those who do not know him, he was a secondary character from The Marriage Merger. It sure looks like his story will be up next. Let me tell you, the set up for the next installment promises an intriguing story.

Kate’s finger shook around the pen. “Got it. Now, just so I have a good background of your beliefs, what is your viewpoint on love? You enrolled with Kinnections to try to find a life partner or a woman you can forge a solid long-term relationship with. I’ll ask you again: are you completely committed and open to finding this?” “I’m open. I just don’t think it exists.” Fascinated, she leaned in. “Why?” He uncrossed his legs, stretched his feet out, and settled comfortingly back in the chair. “One word. Oxytocin.” Kate blinked. “What’s that?” “Simple science. The body excretes a chemical hormone at certain moments that emphasizes the need for closeness and comfort. This lowers fear and instills a calmness we believe and translate to feelings of love. The main time oxytocin is released is after sex. That’s why many times lust will get us into bed, good conversation will give us hope, and oxytocin will cement such feelings as love.” Her eyes widened. Pride and certainty carved out the lines of his face. Holy shit, he believed it! Caught between laughing and crying, she studied his muscled length in all his glory and realized that Slade Montgomery was going to be her hardest client as of yet. The challenge sung in her blood. Matching and finding him love would be her greatest satisfaction. A test of her skills. If she did her job correctly, he wouldn’t know how to even say the word oxytocin at the end of their time together.
