“Just thinking about this book gives me the warm fuzzies, it was just so darn sweet! ”
~ Under the Covers

Vordis is an a’ani, a clone born created to be a slave. It’s all he and his clone/brother Thrand have ever known. But now they are stuck on this strange new ice planet where no one is claiming to be their master. They are free, they can become individuals rather than just one more a’ani amongst many. And Vordis knows what he wants: Angie. Waking up on a freezing cold planet surrounded by blue aliens wasn’t Angie’s biggest shock. Nope…waking up heavily pregnant was. But, the unexpected pregnancy has isolated her from the rest of the women, the only person who seeks her company is Vordis. But, Angie has no idea who, or what, got her pregnant she has enough on her mind with out falling in love with an alien…right?

Just thinking about this book gives me the warm fuzzies, it was just so darn sweet! Ruby Dixon once again has me falling in love with an alien, only this time he is red and not blue. Vordis has spent all his life being treated as a slave; objectified and disposable. More like a tool to be used rather than a person. He had a lot to adjust to in this new world including seeing himself as a an independent person from his brother Thrand. I love how Dixon handled this, it was both heartbreaking and uplifting to see Vordis discover a new life. It also got me excited to read more about Thrand who was, like Vordis, adjusting to his new reality.

Angie also had a shock waking up heavily pregnant and surrounded by aliens. She didn’t know how to feel about the pregnancy or the baby she was carrying. Both Vordis and Angie were fairly isolated individuals from the rest of the group. I loved seeing their relationship develop. Unlike Willa’s Beast which was sexy as hell, this was more of a slow burn. They have an attraction between them but they don’t act on it until towards the end of the book. Angie is heavily pregnant in a world with no comforts…sex isn’t really on her mind. But, that didn’t stop this being romantic. Like all Dixon’s heroes Vordis had a drive to protect and take care of his heroine, it was adorable.

This was another great book in the series, I love how flexible Dixon is with her stories. Her books can go from red  hot with lots of sexy times, to books like this one which are really sweet and have a bit more character development in them. I can’t wait to see what book comes out next!
