“Ms. Dane is masterful at writing complex emotions and weaving them into even sexual situations.”
~ Under the Covers
I picked this book up on a whim after I saw the author mention on social media that this might’ve been the dirtiest book she’d ever written. As a longtime fan of her work, that caught my attention! LOL Plus I also love stories that have a post-apocalyptic setting. I had completely forgotten this novella had previously been published in an anthology years ago. See below for Annie’s review of that.
But back to ALL THAT REMAINS. Our heroine is Summer is living in Paradise Village when she meets Charlie who is basically passing through town. It’s lust at first sight for both of them. But Charlie is already in a relationship with Hatch and adding Summer to the mix might just be what they had both been looking for. Except for the minor detail that turns out to be Hatch isn’t a stranger and he broke Summer’s heart in the past.
Ms. Dane is masterful at writing complex emotions and weaving them into even sexual situations. I loved how the love between Hatch and Charlie came through, Charlie’s “insta-love” for Summer, and also the turbulent love and need for redemption between Hatch and Summer. Somehow all that made the menage just work.
Now as far as the claim that this is the dirtiest thing she’s ever written… I’m not sure. It is a pretty steamy novella though so if you’re looking for a quick steamy read this might be the one for you.
