“Shalvis has a great way of making you care about her characters and these two might actually be my favorite characters in the series so far.”
~ Under the Covers
In the third book of the Heartbreaker Bay series, Jill Shalvis charms and delights readers with Elle and Archerโs story. These two donโt really get along well but beneath the sniping at one another, you can tell that they really do like each other and are simply trying to hide it.
I immediately liked Elle and Archer separately. Shalvis has a great way of making you care about her characters and these two might actually be my favorite characters in the series so far. The entire book is light and charming, which Iโve always come to expect from Jill Shalvis, but she does try to incorporate some action scenes in here as well. For these particular stories, I donโt always require that. Whenever I read a Shalvis book, I prefer witty banter and sweet romance so the rest is just bonus really.
While in my review of the last book I mentioned that the banter with friends was a little over the top, I think itโs much more manageable and tolerable in this one. Friendship is a huge part of this series if you canโt already guess and thereโs plenty of joking around and roughhousing between the guys, but in this case, I enjoyed their banter and jabs at each other because they both furthered the story and set up future books. That being said, I felt like they had a purpose and place in this story whereas in the previous books, they didnโt always.
Elle and Archer are both absolute delights. I loved reading about their time together. In their own ways, they are stubborn people but it was fun seeing them fall for one another in this book. They are definitely my favorite couple in the series so far.
