Return to Glimmer Falls with a sweater vest-wearing werewolf and the vampire-succubus he now accidentally owns. Full of one stress-inducing situation after another (for the characters, at least), Ben and Eleonore will keep readers entertained from start to finish, all while finding love and new friendships along the way. Return to Glimmer Falls with Sarah Hawley and A Werewolf’s Guide to Seducing a Vampire. This is the third book in the series, but the first that didn’t feature a demon as a main character, and I loved the direction this book went in.
Ben has always been a loner. He might come from a large, extended family of werewolves, but he’d rather spend his full moons by himself in the forest than with a pack. But one night, when loneliness gets the better of him, Ben ends up drunkenly ordering a crystal online that promises to hold a solution to his late nights by himself. When the crystal arrives in the mail and out pops a half vampire, half succubus named Eleonore, Ben’s life will be turned upside down in the best ways.
A Werewolf’s Guide to Seducing a Vampire is my favorite addition to this series so far. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books, and loved seeing all the previous characters in Ben and Eleonore’s story, but there was just something about these two main characters and the physical and emotional journey they went on together that made me adore this paranormal romance.
One of my favorite parts of this PNR is how beautifully these two main characters acknowledged their imperfections and aimed to make those perceived flaws work together. Ben has been dealing with anxiety his whole life. Until Eleonore came into his life, he always thought of his mental health as a roadblock to fully living his life. Likewise, after spending much of her life forced to do the bidding of whoever owned her crystal, Eleonore had a lot of trust issues to work through before she could give herself over fully to a life with Ben. Both main characters were self-aware of the obstacles before them, and I loved that Hawley had them both not only acknowledge what was coming between them, but also realize that there was no quick fix. They were both works in progress, but they had love for each other and a solid group of friends to help them get through everything.
Eleonore is a fierce, take-no-prisoners character who learns that it’s okay to soften your edges. She was so fun to read about, and was a unique blend of both succubus and vampire. Ben was a totally huggable werewolf whom I wanted to just cuddle the whole book. And of course, being the nice guy that he is, Ben was all too happy to feed Eleonore’s vampire and succubus sides, making this a fairly steamy read.
I loved Ben and Eleonore. Their story was about finding acceptance within yourself, and being okay with being the person/werewolf/vampire-succubus that you are. The right people will love you for who you are, and that’s never more obvious than in Glimmer Falls.
