“Iโve never been more disappointed in a heroine than I am with Feyre.”
~ Under the Covers
Describe this book in three words.
Annie: I only have one: Disappointing.
Angela:ย Biggest. Disappointment. Ever
What were your thoughts on Feyre and the actions she made in this book?
Annie: Itโs a strange thing when you go from completely loving a heroine to hating her within one book. In the first book in the series, I had no complaints at all. I absolutely loved Feyre, but Maas completely changed gears with her character with this book. Now I understand why others see Feyre as a liar, a traitor, and a whore. When you read this book, youโll see that she is exactly all of these things. I absolutely gutted me to switch sides like that and while I could still hope that things might change around in the beginning, the second half of the book really solidified that it was over. Iโve never been more disappointed in a heroine than I am with Feyre.
Angela: ย Feyreโs character did a big turnaround in this book. ย Where she was a strong, honorable, humble and admirable in ACOTAR, in ACOMAF she was fake, big headed, back stabbing attention getting heroine. ย Everything she stood for in ACOTAR did not stand in ACOMAF. ย Itโs a shame to have love a heroine and hate her even more in the next installment. ย As much as I wanted to like her, She just couldn’t win my heart. ย
What are your thoughts on Rhysand?
Annie: This is going to sound funny but I loved Rhys. He makes a great bad guy. Did you read that correctly? BAD GUY. He has the perfect personality for a villain, but the decision to make him a love interest for Feyre had me cringing. I waited though to see if Maas could pull off a miracle and make me invested in this blooming romance between Rhys and Feyre, but I couldnโt get on board with it. It just felt WRONG. BUT that doesnโt mean I donโt like Rhys and his crew. Theyโre a lovely bunch, but I didnโt like the direction the book took.
Angela: ย I loved Rhysand, despite the horrible things heโs done in ACOTAR. ย He is who he is. ย No filter, no deceptions. ย He will do anything to save his people and I love him for it. ย
What was your favorite part of this book? What was your least favorite?
Annie: I liked being able to see more of Rhys. Heโs incredibly entertaining to read about. I also really liked exploring more of his court. My least favorite thing about this book is Feyre. She can rot in hell.
Angela: ย ย I really don’t have a favorite but I will say that the highlight was reading about Tamlin and Rhysand. ย I quite enjoyed reading about them. ย I also would like toย pay compliments where it is due. ย The author has a way of grabbing her readers and evoke all kinds of emotions. ย Either you really love this book or just the opposite. ย Sadly, I happen to be in the latter. ย
What would you rate this book?
Annie: I would give the first half of the book 3 stars. The second half, however, changed everything for me. So overall, Iโd give this book 2 stars.
Angela: ย I rated it 2 stars. ย I figure, 1 star for Tamlin and another for Rhysand who won my heart despite his evil ways. ย Both heroes just sweptย me off my feet.ย
Do you plan to read the next book in the series?
Annie: Iโm not sure yet honestly. I donโt see how we can go back from the events that happened in this book. If I were to read, it wouldnโt be because Iโm interested to know about who Feyre picks in the end.
Angela: ย Although, I am curious to know what is to become of Tam and Rhys, at this time the answer is no.

Bummer, thanks for the review.
Boo ๐ hate to hear that. I’ve been looking forward to reading this series….Thanks for the review Annie and Angela
We definitely wanted to love the book! It’s both in our most anticipated reads so I guess we had some high standards, but the direction it took completely baffled me.
NNNOOOOOOO….ugh that just stinks…I have been looking forward to this since I finished the first book…
You know what though, Elizabeth. I’d say try it and see. I went in with a warning, but I still wanted to try it and see for myself. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the new direction the author took. But I know lots of people who enjoyed it despite it not making any sense at all lol
I was looking forward reading this book , because i love the first . Thank you for the review !
I LOVED book one, which was why I was soon disappointed in this one ๐
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who was disappointed by this fucking book! Angela our texting was hilarious & you totally confirmed I was right to DNF this when I did LOL.
I hope the next books you guys pick up are amazing & make up for the disappointment of this one ๐
I was texting Angela while I was reading it too. The first half was OK. It would’ve been 3 stars I think if it stayed the same. However, the second half totally killed it for me. I’m sad to say that the author is off my auto buy list now ๐
I’ve heard from several people who loved the first book that they were disappointed in the sequel. What a bummer! It’s like me and Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I loved Delirium so much, but not books 2 and 3.
