[UNCOMMON PASSION] is a story that is filled to the brim with pleasure and passion. ~ Under the Covers Book Blog

I’ve been a fan of Anne Calhoun for a few years now. I knew before that she possessed a special talent writing erotic romances, but I feel that it is more true with UNCOMMON PASSION.

Readers who have read Uncommon Pleasure may be familiar with Ben Harris. He is a SWAT officer who volunteers to take his friends place at an auction. Little does he know that the woman who he ends up selling himself to is Rachel Hill, a woman from a religious community and also happens to be a virgin.

Their first sexual encounter is awkward to say the least. It doesn’t occur to Ben that she is a virgin but Rachel isn’t phased by rough way Ben took her virginity. In fact, Rachel doesn’t quite fit the mold of what you think a harbored woman should be. She is actually quite fierce if you think about it. She wants to experience all that she has missed and that’s one of the things I love about Calhoun’s heroines. They are always willing to explore the desires of sex and be unapologetic about it.

Ben wishes he can have a do over to try and make up for his lack of finesse the first time. He doesn’t expect to involve his heart though. This is when, I believe, the magic of Calhoun’s words come through.

One of the things that I think that make Calhoun’s stories so good is the fact that she is able to evoke so much emotion from a single sex scene. Add in others and you’ve got a story that is filled to the brim with pleasure and passion.

I wasn’t an immediate fan of Ben. Towards the end, I still don’t think he totally won me over and that’s the main reason why I can’t give the book anything above 4 stars. But this book is still a damn good read. Emotions turn this story from sexy to sizzling!

About Anne Calhoun

After doing time at Fortune 500 companies on both coasts, I found myself living in the suburbs of a small Midwestern city. The glamour of various cube farm jobs had worn off, so I gave up making a decent living to take Joseph Campbell’s advice and follow my bliss: writing romance.

  1. I’m a little leery of the virgin/auction thing, but I have heard good things about this author. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
