I really like Ms. Caridad’s short stories. For the length of this short book, she provided just the right amount of romance and hot scenes.Jamie Morrison, a local news reporter, is assigned to interview a popular, handsome, ex-cop now successful author, Galen Hawke. Instant attraction was obvious between Jamie and Galen. And adults that they are, they had acted on that attraction. A simple interview ended up a one-night stand. Unfortunately, that is all that it was. Until they meet again one year later, Jamie finds out why Galen never returned her calls.

I love stories of second chances. Though it has been one year later, both characters realized that their attraction for each other still exists. The romance was definitely believable and relationships such as these are certainly possible. There’s bit of action, a bit of mystery, definitely hot scenes. The only thing I wish there was more of is the background or more world building of the shifter part of the story. Being that it was a short story, I guess some parts of the book will suffer for it. I am hoping Ms. Caridad will take this plot and Vampire Consort (another short) further and make a series out of it.
