“The combination of story and feel in this book was a total winner for me. ย It gave me exactly what I was looking for. ย An uncomplicated sweet and sexy love story.” ~ Under the Covers

I was feeling in the sweet/small town/contemporary mood and this series popped back up in my mind recently. ย I enjoyed the first installment and it fit the bill perfectly. ย Maybe it’s my mind’s way of telling me I can’t wait for summer to get here that I’m craving some summer reading. ๐Ÿ˜‰

CAROLINA GIRL is…. not about my favorite character in this family. ย We met Meg in the previous book and she just came across as a bitch. ย She hates the small town life that she came from and that’s why she basically ran away to the big city and has made a successful life for herself in New York. ย Everything she does feels calculated and planned. ย But I gotta give it to her, she’s been determined to never scrub another toilet at her parent’s B&B and she accomplished her goal.

Except when she goes back to New York after the events in CAROLINA HOME, she finds herself laid off from her job and without the moral support she expected from her boyfriend. ย A boyfriend who promptly sends her back home to Dare Island to clear her mind a bit. ย A different Meg comes back home. ย One a little less sure of herself and her future. ย I managed to like this Meg!

I’m also a sucker for the trope in this book. ย There’s what you could consider a second chance romance sinceย Grady was the boy she gave her virginity to and had a crush on when she was young. ย And then there’s the older brother’s hot best friend, because who can resist that! ย The combination of story and feel in this book was a total winner for me. ย It gave me exactly what I was looking for. ย An uncomplicated sweet and sexy love story.

But let’s go back to Grady. ย The bad boy from the high school days that all the women throw themselves at. ย He’s had a rough go with his family life, his father parading a string of “step moms” for him all his life. ย He always craved to have a loving family. ย Something the Fletcher’s had. ย He longed to be part of the family while he was a kid, and now he wants to have THAT in his future. ย And Meg was just the girl he messed up with by being a young scared boy not ready for a lifelong commitment. ย Now he wants her back. ย Talk about a sexy and determined man!

If you like small town romances centered around family, sweet with a dash of sexy, then you need to give the Dare Island series a try. ย I’ll be looking for the next one soon.

  1. I read the last two in this series, but I need to go back for the first two. I love these cozy, summery feeling romances too. That’s neat how the author changed your mind about Meg.
